Panaji, Jun 3: Heavy rains continued to lash Goa for the fifth day on Friday severely affecting the normal life in the tourist State.

"69.4 mm rains were recorded for last two days... gusty winds and rough weather continues over Arabian Sea," Director of Meteorological Department," K V Singh said here.

Fishermen are strictly warned not to venture into the sea as gusty winds would continue for next 24 hours, he said.

The coastal state has been witnessing rains since May last week.

In the month of May, 461.0 mm rains were recorded while this month the total tally till this morning is 69.4 mm," Singh stated.

He said that the rough weather in the State is the result of winds flowing from south westerly to north westerly and also westerly waves.

Meanwhile, state's low lying areas continued to be inundated. "Four houses collapsed at Canacona taluka but there was no casulty," district officials said.
