Kundapur, Jun 3: Despite assurance by government officials and others about finding a permanent solution to sea erosion, the story remains the same.  Every year inches of land is engulfed by the roaring sea in many parts of the coastal districts.  As the monsoon set in, people living in the coastal areas especially those who live close to the sea are filled with the possibility of their houses being washed out owing to sea erosion.  Though promises come in heap, nothing happens by the end of the season.

This is what has to be said about the Maravante and Trasi here.  Sea erosion has been as frequent as the monsoons for years now.  But no permanent solution has yet been found.  Though a few big stones were laid along the Maravante shore last year, they have been unable to stop the roaring sea from engulfing the land.

The early monsoons this year have once again given way for extensive sea erosion in the Paduvari, Trasi and Maravante areas.  A few houses too have been damaged in the areas owing to incessant rains.  The property belonging to one Govindu Mogaveerti at Paduvari has been damaged owing to sea erosion at Paduvari.  The coconut garden has suffered much loss.  The revenue department officials have already visited the place.

The houses of Rama Poojary, Nagappa Sherugar, Nagraj Poojary, Basava, Girija, Ratnakar, Bacchi, and Tunga near Gangolli too have been damaged.  In Shankarnarayana, the house of one Gulabi Shedti has partially collapsed.
