Puttur, Jun 3: Three engineers who had come for trekking at Kempuhole near the Shirady forest have gone missing in mysterious circumstances from May 28.

Vedamurthy, Vasant Kumar and Bhaskar, residents of Vagarhally Layout in Bangalore had come to the Shirady Ghat area on a vehicle.  After parking their vehicle at Shirady they had gone to the nearby forest for trekking.  However, they did not come back.

Search is on to locate them ever since.  However there has been no progress so far.  On Friday June 2, a group of persons including o the family members of the missing engineers went on an extensive search operation in the area.  More than 40 persons who have good knowledge about the forest too had gone to the forest.  But all of them came back empty handed.

So far nothing is sure as what has happened with the engineers.  It has been raining incessantly for the last one week as a result of which the nearby Gundya River too is filled with flood water.  Chances of their getting drowned in the river too cannot be ruled out, say the locals.

lt could be recalled that 3 persons had drowned in the Gundya River some 3 years ago when they come for trekking on Kempuhole.  Though there were 7 persons in the group they were unable to save the 3 persons who had been washed out in the river.
