Wilson D'Souza - CODP

Mangalore, Jun 3: The Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP) and Horticulture Department organized workshop on awareness of National Horticulture Mission 2006 for farmers at Neermarga Church Hall recently.

 Inaugurating the workshop Fr Oswald Monteiro, deputy director of CODP said that National Horticulture Mission (NHM) is mission important. Horticulture, the art of raising fruits, vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants has been one of the ancient occupation of livelihood of mankind and other living organisms, can be adopted easily and successfully for reclaiming or developing various kinds of wasteland in our country.

Fr Charles Menezes parish priest of St Joseph the Worker church, Neermarga, Joe Pradeep D’Souza, senior assistant director of department of Horticulture, Mangalore were present. Members of Self Help Groups (SHG) of Spandana Trust,Mangalore and farmers of neighbouring villages took part in the workshop.

     
 Joe Pradeep D’Souza, resource person explained various benefits available to farmers on the occasion.
