Two Delhi men shot at, out of danger

New Delhi, March 11 (IANS): Two people were shot at for apparently just enquiring from one of their four attackers why they were standing in front of a shop in Tilak Nagar in Delhi, police said Tuesday.

Sachin Kumar, 55 and Akshay Sharma, 22 were injured when the assailants opened fire late Monday night.

Police said the two were admitted to a government hospital and are out of danger.

Residents, however, claimed the attack took place after the victims protested against a girl being molested.

People claimed that one of the attackers had earlier come on a motorcycle and tried to molest a girl before the shop. The shopkeeper intervened and asked him to leave the area.

A few minutes later he returned with three of his friends who were armed and opened fire on people standing with the shopkeeper.

Police said no girl was seen at the scene of the shooting but they were investigating the allegations.
