Metro tunnel under Ring Road completed

New Delhi, March 12 (IANS): The Delhi Metro Wednesday completed a 1,247-metre tunnel below the busy Ring Road in the 59-km corridor between north Delhi's Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar in northeast Delhi, officials said.

The tunnel was built from Netaji Subhash Place to Shalimar Bagh using a tunnel boring machine without causing any disturbance to the surface traffic.

The machine was lowered in October 2013.

The tunnel also crossed the elevated viaduct of a currently operational metro corridor.

The new corridor is part of Delhi Metro's Phase III.
