Mangalore, Jun 4: Mangalorean-boy Hemant Kumar has been making tremendous strides in academics and has brought laurels to the district. A student of Canara PU college, Hemant was in news as he became the topper in Udupi and DK district PU results. An ace quizzer, Hemant has secured the fifth rank in the medical and 29th rank in the engineering stream in the Common Entrance Test (CET).

Although his father Vasant Kumar wanted him to be an engineer, Hemant desires to be a doctor.

He has short-listed in Kasturba Medical College, Bangalore Medical College and Mysore Medical College as prospective institutions to do his medicine.
