Why Raja and Dayanidhi, Jayalalithaa asks Karunanidhi

Erode (Tamil Nadu), March 13 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Thursday criticised the DMK's decision to field 2G scam tainted ministers A. Raja and Dayanidhi Maran in the general elections.

Addressing a rally here, around 400 km from Chennai, the AIADMK general secretary said that at a time when the general view is that tainted people should not contest the elections, DMK president M. Karunanidhi has fielded two such people.

Jayalalithaa lashed out at Maran, saying the charge against him was that he misused his official position to force a sale of Aircel to Maxis. Following that, a group company of Maxis invested Rs.675 crore in the Sun TV Network.

She said Maran was also charged with misuse of his position to set up a 300-line telephone exchange at his home.

She said Karunanidhi cannot justify his decision to field them by saying that the charges against the two were shaky and that there were no witnesses to prove them.
