The side that triumphs today can eke out a back door entry to the main event, provided Bangladesh suffer a colossal defeat at the hands of Hong Kong in the second fixture of the evening. However, such a cataclysmic fall seems unlikely, for the hosts have rediscovered their mojo.

On a more practical note, this could well be the final game in the World T20 tournament for both Afghanistan and Nepal before they brace themselves up for the ACC Premier League in Malaysia.
