Vasco, June 7: Yet in another tragic incident of drowning, an 8-year-old boy from Sasmollem-Baina, Adam Ayub Khan, died after he accidentally fell into an open soak-pit at a construction site near the Gomanteshwar Temple at Sasmollem, on Tuesday  evening.

The boy was studying in third standard at Our Lady of Candelaria School, Sasmollem. The locals intimated the Vasco police and thereafter fished out the body from the soak-pit. The police have referred the body for autopsy at Hospicio Hospital, Margao. The police have registered an offence against the contractor under Section 304 (A) of Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the Verna police have registered an offence under Section 304 (A) of the IPC against one Suresh Shirke, a civil contractor and native of Satara on charges of negligence for keeping the soak-pit open and responsible for the death of a 4-year-old boy, Ridwan Shaikh, a resident of Zuarinagar on June 5.
