BSF brings back farmer abducted by Bangladeshi criminals

Kolkata, March 21 (IANS): A two-month-long endeavour of the Border Security Force (BSF) bore fruit Friday when an Indian farmer, abducted and taken to Bangladesh by criminals, was brought back home, an official said.

Tapas Ghosh of Krishnaganj in Nadia district of West Bengal was abducted by Bangladeshi criminals two months back as he worked in his field near the Indo-Bangla border.

"BSF authorities immediately took up the issue with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and lodged a strong protest over abduction of the innocent Indian farmer.

"The BSF citing Co-ordinated Border Management Programme pressurised BGB authorities at all levels which resulted in the handing over of Ghosh," the BSF said in a release.
