Mangalore, Jun 7: It was on Tuesday June 7, 2006 evening that notorious M D Jabbar murder accused Polali Anantu was hacked to death near the Polali Gate. One year has rolled by since then. Though the Bajpe police led by Panambur circle inspector Kodandaram have arrested Madoor Nazir, Bodda Latif, Rafique from Kavoor and Asgar Ali of Ullal in this regard, the prime accused Mulki Rafique is still at large.
Polali Anantu was the mastermind in the then taluk panchayat president M D Jabbar murder. Accordingly Mulki Rafique and his accomplices had avenged the M D Jabbar's death by killing Polali Anantu on June 7.
But what followed his death was not expected by any one. The murder had paved way for communal riots in the city. His funeral procession was one of the most violent processions during which several shops were damaged, one person was killed and 5-6 persons were injured owing to stone pelting and stabbing.
Though police managed to arrest 4 accused, the rest including Mulki Rafique are still missing. Along with Mulki Rafique, Davood of Ullal, Shahul Hameed and Akbar from Kavoor are absconding.
The Bajrang Dal had warned that they will call for a level district bundh if the police fail to nab the absconding by June 7. The deadline already over. However, the Bajrang Dal has not yet revealed its next step. While the police are putting their all efforts to locate the absconding, the people are waiting with crossed fingers for the future course of action.
