14 injured in Argentina oil depot blast


Buenos Aires, March 24 (IANS/EFE): An explosion at a tank farm in the western Argentine province of Mendoza injured 14 people, State-controlled oil company YPF said.

The Saturday's explosion was caused by a fire that started Friday night at the Cerro Divisadero complex, located about 1,000 km (621 miles) west of Buenos Aires.

Some media reports, however, put the number of injured to 17 in the Saturday's explosion.

The cause of the fire in the tank, which contained 10,000 cubic metres of petroleum, is under investigation, YPF said in a statement.
