India girls beat Bhutan 9-0


Colombo, March 24 (IANS): The Under-14 India girls scored an emphatic 9-0 victory over Bhutan in the 2014 AFC Regional Championship for South and Central Asia at the Baddegana Football Training Centre here Monday.

Midfielder Sirjana Tamang scored four goals (15th, 18th, 22nd, 30th) in the first half to underline India’s dominance in a lopsided encounter. India led 4-0 at halftime.

After the break, Lifa Gama scored in the second minute and added two more before the final whistle. Roja Devi (21) and Daya Devi (31) also got their names on the score sheet.

The win takes India to nine points from four outings with the girls in blue in second position behind Nepal, who are first with 12 points.

India next play Iran Tuesday.
