Mumbai, Jun 9: Two more suspected militants have been arrested in the Aurangabad arms seizure case, taking the total number of arrests to 13.
The duo, identified as Khatil Imran Akil Ahmed (23) and Sheikh Wikar (23), both residents of Majalgaon in Beed district of Marathwada, are suspected to be part of the conspiracy of the Lashkar-e-Toiba suspects to collect and distribute arms and explosives, Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) sources said.
ATS chief, KP Raghuvanshi confirmed that the two have been arrested from Marathwada on Wednesday night. They will be produced before a local court later in the day, he said.
Earlier 11 suspected LeT cadre were arrested by ATS following seizure of a large arms and explosives consignment reportedly meant for distribution to commit subversive activities in and outside the state.
The seized consignment included 16 AK-47 assault rifles, nearly 4,000 ammunition rounds, 43 kg RDX explosives, besides magazines for the guns.
ATS officials said although it was certain that the arms and explosives were meant for distribution for subversive acts, investigations are yet to come across the exact plans of the terrorists.
