Mangalore, Jun 10:
Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) will hand over 781 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) on Sunday June 11, informed mayor K Ashraf at a press conference here on Friday June 9.

The SHGs were formed under MCC and Karnataka Urban Infrastructure and Development Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) between September 2002 and May 2006 with SKDRDP identifying families below poverty line and providing them basic amenities. These SHGs were monitored by 33 federations. The SHGs will be handed over to SKDRDP to monitor their progress better and as MCC will not be able to take the responsibility, Ashraf said.

A Sadhana Samvesha has been organised to mark this achievement jointly by MCC, KUIDFC and SKDRDP at A B Shetty Centenary Auditorium on Sunday June 11 at 10.30 am during which the SHGs will be officially handed over to SKDRDP. Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade will also be honoured on the occasion.

Mayor K Ashraf, district in-charge minister B Nagraj Shetty, MP D V Sadananda Gowda and KUIDFC MD Javed Akhter are expected to attend the programme.
