Mangalore, Jun 11: On the list of ambitious projects planned for Mangalore is the Skybus Metro Project. There was uncertainty over this project and nothing concrete seemed to be taking place until deputy chief minister B S Yediyurappa announced that the State Government would release Rs 1 crore to undertake a feasibility study to introduce the project.
The go-ahead sign given by Dy CM has brought in new hopes that the Skybus would step into Mangalore.
Yediyurappa on Saturday, Jun 10 visited the sea-erosion affected areas in Ullal and later speaking to the press informed about the decision of the government regarding the Skybus project. He said that the coalition government was keen on development of infrastructure in urban areas. With the traffic growing denser day-by-day, there is a need to study the feasibility of operating a skybus here in Mangalore, he said.
The project has immense potential and would be completed with private participation. The Konkan Railway Corporation will be asked to make the study and submit the report, he added.
