Mangalore, Jun 12: Unidentified thieves allegedly decamped with 18 empty LPG cylinders belonging to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd which were stored outside a shop at Kaniyuru under Kadaba Police Station limits in Puttur taluk on Sunday, Jun 11. According to a complaint, 10 persons reportedly came in a lorry and fled after taking away the cylinders.

In a separate incident reported from Melkar under Bantwal town Police Station limits, police recovered LPG cylinders discarded by a group travelling in a lorry. When Anand, Civil Head Constable, chased the vehicle, the group reportedly escaped after dumping the cylinders on the road. Police are yet to confirm if the cylinders dumped at Melkar were the ones stolen from Kaniyuru. Plant to produce biogas from garbage to be set up in Mangalore
