Dubai, Jun 12: Activist Medha Patkar has called on expatriate Indians to show solidarity to the cause of Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) by writing to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior politicians.

"Writing to leaders on social issues is considered a traditional means but by doing so New Delhi should be conveyed that the issue needs urgent attention and intervention,'' Patkar said.

Ms Patkar, who is here as a guest of the Dubai Art Lovers' Association (DALA), was invited guest of honour at their Silver Jubilee celebration on Friday.

Highlighting displacement issues, the activist emphasised that Indians everywhere should take interest on the issue and get involved in critical decisions in other development areas.

Patkar said the relief and rehabilitation ordered by the Supreme Court has not been completed nor has the dam's objectives been reached.

She rejected charges ranging from her possessing excess funds to preventing rehabilitation efforts to keep the movement alive.
