Maoists ask people to boycott poll in Bihar's Jamui

Patna, April 6 (IANS): Maoists Sunday called for a boycott of the Lok Sabha election in Jamui parliamentary constituency of Bihar, and told cadres to attack security forces during the poll, police said.

A police official said Maoist leader Pragati issued the diktat at a 'janata darbar' held in Vishanpura forest, saying no poll should take place for the Jamui reserved seat.

Maoists have through posters and banners also called for poll boycott in Lakhisarai, Banka, Munger, Gaya and Aurangabad districts.

The posters also demanded withdrawal of forces engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the state.

Police have seized such posters from many places.

The Maoists have also appealed to cadres and different units, including the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army, through SMSes to target security forces during the election.

Police said the Maoists were also sending bulk SMSes to appeal to people to boycott the Lok Sabha poll in neighbouring Jharkhand.
