Mangalore, Apr 7: 'HalliHabba'– a sports program with rural games was conducted at St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), Beeri, Kotekar on April 3.
 
The function was inaugurated by Roshan Ferrao, a well-known athletic who with many recognitions has also won Mr Asia Pacific in body building. The AIMIT chairman Dr Oswald Mascharenhas, dean academics- Dr  Rowena Wright, faculty convener  Rayan Dsouza and student sports secretaries Darwesh and Riya sheikh were also present.

Roshan Ferao addressed the students on the importance of team spirit. He also mentioned on how in the modern world we need to give importance to the rural games as well. He appreciated the organizers for having bought the rural games back to the youth.
 
Fr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ, chairman of the MBA Dept, AIMIT, mentioned the importance of reaching out to the rural areas and thus in the long run helping in the growth of these areas. Since the college is located near many villages, this was a bridging gap towards the right direction.
 
The inaugural was followed by the games such as lagoori, kabadi, under-arm gully cricket, 5 leg race and ended with the all-time favourite tug of war.
 
The emotions, team spirit and passion ended with a high velocity valedictory function. Even though there was only one winner, every single participant felt accomplished with the fact that they got immersed with the rural way of entertainment.
