Mangalore, Jun 13: Samajwadi Party (SP) along with CPI (M) has planned to hold a demonstration against the hike in fuel prices on Tuesday June 13 in front of the deputy commissioner's office.
Speaking to press persons here on Monday June 12, Samajwadi Party district general secretary S P Chengappa informed that the hike in fuel prices affects the price of essential commodities and services making them costlier and unaffordable for the common man. Thus the purpose of the protest would be to force the government to bring down the prices immediately.
Criticising the district administration's decision to hand over the Shantinagar playground to MESCOM, he expressed the party's support for the Shantinagar Kreedangana Ulisi Horata's protest against the move.
He also revealed the party's plans to contest in the next city corporation elections.
