10 killed in clash between Taliban groups


Islamabad, April 8 (IANS): At least 10 militants were killed and three others injured in a clash Tuesday between two groups of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the South Waziristan region of Pakistan, media reported.

The clash took place in the Shaktoi area of South Waziristan between Khan Said alias Sajna and Waliur Rehman groups of the TTP, Dawn online reported citing a government official.

The groups used heavy weapons in the clash, the official confirmed.

The clash between the two TTP groups started Monday when unidentified people attacked a car in the Shaktoi area of South Waziristan Agency, killing four people and injuring another.

The official added that those killed in the incident included a key commander, Kashed Khan Mehsud, who is believed to be a local commander of the Hakimullah Mehsud group while the others were also TTP fighters.

The toll in the ongoing clashes has now risen to 14.
