Mangalore, Jun 14: Team Mangalore, the enthusiastic group of kite flyers will participate in the international kite festival to be organized by Istanbul Kite Flyers Association, Turkey.
A hobby group of kite makers and flyers, Team Mangalore was founded in 1998. The group has carved a niche for itself at all International Kite Festivals. It has participated in kite festivals in various parts of India. It has over the years, used the medium of kites to introduce our rich cultural heritage to the world.
At the festival in Turkey, the kites crafted by Team Mangalore will be on display. Among their kites are the Yakshagana, Kathakali and Bootha Kola kites which are inspired by the traditional folklore and theatrics of the South West Coast of Karnataka and Kerala.
They have been conceived, engineered, designed and crafted by B Sarvesh Rao, Prashanth Upadhyaya and Dinesh Holla of Team Mangalore under the guidance of renowned contemporary artist Ganesh Somayaji of Mangalore.
Chartered Accountants Sarvesh Rao, Giridhar Kamath and Nitin J Shetty will participate in the competition which will be held between June 16 to June 26.
