Mangalore, Jun 15: Zilla Panchayat (ZP) president Mamata Gatti has come down heavily on the slow pace of implementation of Suvarna Jala Yojane, the rainwater harvesting project in schools.
Addressing the Karnataka Development Preview meet here on Tuesday June 13, she said that out of 197 schools in the rural areas, the project has been implemented in only 70 schools while in 71 schools work is still under progress. In the remaining 56 schools, the project is just being prepared.
She also wanted a separate meeting to be called for discussing the issues related to Social Welfare Department.
Several other issues like providing housing for the poor, supply of medicines to primary health centres and implementation of Swarna Jayanti Swarozgar Scheme were also discussed in the meeting.
