Police complaint against Azam Khan

Ghaziabad, April 12 (IANS): A police complaint against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan was registered Saturday in Ghaziabad's Masuri police station.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sadar Kunal Silku said Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Azam Khan delivered a defamatory and inflammatory statement April 7 during his election rally in Masuri town.

Taking cognizance of the complaint filed over the minister's remark, the Election Commission issued a notice to the SP leader April 9, which Khan has to reply.

The reply did not reach the Election Commission within the stipulated time, which expired April 12. Therefore, the SDM on behalf of the district administration lodged a complaint in the police station.

"I have a DVD in my possession with contents of the speech in it. I will submit it when an investigation officer would demand it," said the SDM.
