Mangalore, Apr 13: Fire broke out in a house at Kadri here on Sunday April 13, reportedly due to short circuit.

The house belongs to Venkat Raj, where he stays with his wife and mother.

The upper floor of the house was occupied by Venkat's brother Raviraj Rao, his wife and two children. Raviraj was looking to shift to a house in Moodbidri and the process of shifting was on for the last few days.

On Sunday evening, Raviraj along with his wife and children left the house for good and moved to their house in Moodbidri.

About half an hour later, the residents who were in the lower part of the house heard some sounds from the upper floor, and on checking, found that a fire had erupted. Fire service was immediately informed.

The firemen managed to douse the flames. Some pieces of furniture and documents that were yet to be shifted to Raviraj's new house were reportedly burnt. No injury was reported.

Kadri police have registered a case.
