Mangalore, Jun 17: Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Dr P Chandrappa has been provided with police security by district SP following a request for the same by the former on Friday June 16.

A gunman and other adequate police security have been arranged to Dr Chandrappa. 

Earlier the MCC commissioner had filed a complaint with the district SP against mayor K Ashraf.  The former had stated that the mayor had called him over the phone and threatened him to stop the eviction drive of petty shops started by the corporation on Wednesday June 14.

Meanwhile the opposition BJP leaders on Friday submitted an appeal to the state government through the deputy commissioner to take stern action against the mayor for disrupting and interfering in the work undertaken by the commissioner.

A delegation led by Muralidhar Bolar and comprising of Shankar Bhat, Navinchandra, Venktesh Achar, Prema Vasudev, Mariyamma Thomas, Ganesh Rao and Kadri Jayram Rai met the DC and SP and submitted the appeal.
