She was addressing a public meeting organized on Monday April 14 evening at Trasi near here.

Veteran BJP leader and former minister, Basavaraj Horatti, addressing the audience, said that this time around, he has witnessed a strong wind of change in Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency. He requested the people to support Bangarappa’s daughter, Geetha Shivarajkumar, to enable her to raise voice on behalf of women. He recalled that Bangarappa always fought for social justice. Sandalwood actor, Murali, said that Geetha has decided to fight the election with a view to serve the people honestly, and requested the people to cast their votes in her support. Actor, Vijay Raghavendra, also spoke on the occasion, seeking votes for the JD(S) candidate.

Entrepreneur, V K Mohan, who was present at the meeting, said that he had so far not been a member of any political party, nor was he involved with caste-based politics. ‘I am not even a member of any organization representing my community. I treat all castes and religions as one. I have always been donating 30 percent of my income for the people facing difficulties. Please recognize my social service, and vote for Geetha Shivarajkumar,’ he requested.

Actor, Shivarajkumar, entertained the audience by singing a song from his film, ‘Jogi’. Cine actor, Balaraj, JD(S) in-charge of constituency election committee, D R Raju, Udupi district JD(S) minority unit president, Mansoor Ibrahim, JD(S) leader from Bhatkal, Inayitul, JD(S) district women’s unit president, Shalini Shetty Kenchanur, Byndoor constituency committee president, Ranjitkumar Shetty, youth unit president, Sandesh Bhat and others were present.

The JD(S) candidate later participated in road shows held at Hemmady, Trasi, Nada, Navunda, Nagur, Kambadakone, Uppunda, Shirur etc later in the day.
