Mangalore, Jun 17: The Canara Organization for Development and Peace (R), Kadri Hills Mangalore and Government of Karnataka Department of Horticulture jointly organized a function of Horticulture Training and Free Sapling distribution at Ambedkar Bhavan, Balepuni Panchyat, Mudipu near here recently.

Fr Onil D’Souza, director, CODP, inaugurating the function said “cashew plant is the goldmine of wasteland, you can reap a rich harvest year after year with minimum investment and labour”.

Janardhan Gatti, president, Balepuni Grama Panchayath, presided over the function. Chendrahasa Kerkera, member, taluk panchayath, Umar Fazzir, member, taluk panchayath, Abbubekkar Siddiq, member, Naringana panchayath, were present. Janardhan Gatti, president, Balepuni panchayath, congratulated the CODP director for successfully conducting several projects in Balepuni Panchayath area and elsewhere. He was referring to the success of De-addiction camp organized by CODP few months back.

Sanjeev Nayak, assistant director of horticulture, Bantwal, conducted the training programme for the farmers. CODP distributed 2500 cashew saplings and 200 sapota saplings free-of-cost to the farmers in the function.
