Mangalore, Apr 15: Here's a chance of a lifetime to experience the beauty of Mangalore like never before.

Hop on to Cessna aircraft and tighten your seatbelts to witness an enchanting aerial view of the coastal district.

Cessna 172 aircraft that has arrived in Mangalore from Mysore will fly around the city and the district, in an experimental initiative taken by Panambur beach tourism development project to promote the tourism in the district.

The aircraft will remain operational in the district for a fortnight, and if the response is satisfactory, the ride would be extended for another 15 days. People are enquiring about the ride across the district through social media (Facebook) and are likely to turn out in big numbers. Cessna offers six rides a day, and two people can board at a time.

"It is a 20-minute joyride either in the city or across the district depending on the preference of the passenger. Package costs Rs 3,000 per head, and the ride takes off from Mangalore airport," said CEO, Panambur beach tourism development project, Yathish Bikampady. The aircraft will fly from the airport to the preferred destinations of the passenger. Currently one aircraft with a seating capacity of four operates in the district.

The Cessna ride began from Sunday April 13. On day one, the organizers in an effort to create voter awareness dropped handbills from the sky.

"It would be a bit difficult to conduct many rides as there is no dedicated runway. We also planned to introduce sky-diving but there is no separate airbase to put the plan into action. We do not want to cause inconvenience to the regular flights for joyrides," Yathish Baikampady explained.

Daijiworld's ace photographer Dayanand Kukkaje took this opportunity to capture in his lens the beautiful city of Mangalore in all its glory. Enjoy the stunning scenes!

To book a ride on the Cessna aircraft, contact Yathish Baikampady on 9449035570.

GREENERY IS LOST TO A GREAT EXTENT. LOT OF MONEY WITH EVERY ONES HAND GIVING RISE TO HIGH RISE CONCRETE BUILDINGS. EVEN THOU IT RAINS GOOD, THE HEAT OF FEB TO MAY MAKES THE NEW SAMPLINGS DIE WHICH ARE PLANTED BY FOREST DEPT. THEY DONT EVEN BOTHER TO WATER THEM FOR THE FIRST YEAR. SEE FOR YOURSELF IN THE HIGHWAY FROM SURATHKAL TO MANGALORE.
I HAD PLANTED TREES AT BAIKAMPADY WITH THE SPONSORSHIP OF MY WORKING ORGANISATION, WATERED THEM IN THE FIRST YEAR, 80% OF THE SAMPLINGS SURVIVED AND HAVE BLOOMED TO BE TREES.
HOPE SO I WILL TAKE THIS WORK SERIOUSLY WITH A GROUP OF MY FRIENDS WHEN I RETIRE FROM SERVICE.

How could we expect tourism, Better Infrastructure and development in the city when you are not allowed to live a free life. We see hell lot of educational institutions in the city, but there are hardly few job opportunities e just because none of major companies dare to come here becoz of every day riots in the name of so called sanskrati and culture. Why not in major citiese like Bangalore and Mumbai we dont have DALA'S who run behind couples and pubs like Mangalore....

Let everyone live peaceful lives of their choice. Choose a leader who could get some infrastructure development and stop all these gundaas who destroy our freedom here.. Then we can expect more business from major companies like Infosys in Mangalore...So that our youth no need to go abroad in search of the future...

Dear Eric Coelho.. just want to say everything cannot be perfect in life. Learn to appreciate beauty. If you can't afford the ride its fine... but at least do not de-motivate the tourists. No city in the world is perfect, but they still you will never see any westerners protait a negative image of their country or city like the Indians do. We ourselves dity the city and blame politicians. Keeping the city clean is the responsibility of every citizen. How many well educated Indians or NRI's throw garbage in the right place when they are in India???

3 major things can change mangalore completely:

    1. Proper planning of city, roads & infrastructure development.

    2. High priority for boosting tourism(without moral policing).

    3. Generating of employment for youth, be it IT sector or manufacturing sector etc.

If all these things are implemented, our Mangalore city will develop with no time. Our youths are migrating for metro cities or abroad in search of employment and ultimately they are helping to develop that cities.

My suggestion is that present MUDA should be abolished and its functions should be merged with MCC making it BMMP(Brhath Mangalore Maha Nagara Palike)This will help the citizens to get the sanction for new sites, approval of building plans avoiding all unwanted things that facilitates corruption by babus.Sakala scheme should be aggressively implemented 100% to stop corruption. There must be uniformity in rules for construction of buildings everywhere in metros.

To see the magnificent mangalore from aboard Cessna aircraft is a beauty of its nature. Thank god that something in nature that is beautiful above ground is not under the control or in the hands of human beings, otherwise we would destroy even that nature like we doing on land. I don't think we need to appreciate what we see above land as god has not given human wings. Look at the way we have destroyed the very existing beauty on land in Mangalore cannot be explained. Look at the infrastructures - disgusting, look at the coastline-destruction, look at the city-dirty. Even if Cessna takes me for a joy rid even for Re. 1 I will not go as I know that anything above land is always beautiful, but on land when we stand it is horrible. Let it be that way.

yes, this is the way to go -now email these images to Dr. Charles Correa the architect-designer to drawa a master pan -mega plan for teh future of MANGALORE and the entire coast for the futu eand not to mess around and be like a concrete -unplanned Mumbai or other cities.
we need like Singapore or Malaysia.
well planned.keeping the nature intact going round the nature -do not destroy anything..meaning CBD ares with vertical high rise towers overlooking the coastal beaches-build like VENICE ALONG Nethravathi river with marine -cruise -boats-yachts.
    all terrains .
well constructed with CODES-ZONE S-STANDARSD AND SPECIFICATIONS...
Build the beach with cor niche roads...
Rural:and urban to be in areas and not all over the place ..have strct coes-zones.
    for industries, commercial..residential....etc.
water..sewage... utilities to be in place...ring roads ..all heavy traffic should go one way separate from public commuting...
set up elevate dtrains ..mono rials..shuttle s..trams etc.
PLAN the city from now, right from ULLAL to Belgaum.
    dont over crowd teh city.
set up clean industrial belts..green belts-parks ..Playgrounds -stadiums ..Museums ....club houses....
