M'lore: AIMIT hosts entrepreneurship development prog

Mangalore Apr, 16: Entrepreneurship is crucial for a nation like ours; so a one day workshop was conducted for the fourth semester students of the department of business administration of St Aloysius College on Tuesday April 15.

The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Allen C A Pereira, the ex-chairman and managing director of bank of Maharashtra in the auspicious presence of Fr Denzil Lobo, the Rector of St Aloysius College, Fr Pradeep Sequira the administrator and dean of academics, Dr Rowena Wright.
There were four sessions conducted and the first session was addressed by Allen C A Pereira. He spoke on innovation and entrepreneurship followed by a panel discussion on challenges and government support to entrepreneurs.

The panel consisted of K Socrates- the deputy director Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute, government of India, Yeyyadi industrial estate, Mangalore, Mithun K Bhat, the director M/s Kakunje Polypacks, Mangalore and Vilas Kumar, the director M/s Automark – M/s Motomark- Mangalore. During the later part of the day, two eminent speakers Dr Derek Lobo and Walter D’Souza spoke on social entrepreneurship and new areas of innovation respectively.
 
The sessions were helpful for the young budding entrepreneurs and were interactive with many questions and answers.

The programme was one of its kind with topics like funding; man power management, government rules and regulations too discussed. The programme also highlighted the options as to why an individual should take up entrepreneurship and what are its benefits.

The challenges like corruptions and practical difficulties that every entrepreneur faces, be it man or woman young or experienced were also discussed.

The response of the students was good as they realized the need of the workshop. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Myron Mascarenhas followed by the national anthem.
