Brazilian fans drive World Cup ticket demand


Rio de Janeiro, April 16 (IANS): FIFA announced that fans have purchased 126,837 tickets in the first four hours of the final World Cup sales phase.

More than 80,000 tickets were bought by Brazilians while strong demand also came from the US, Colombia, Argentina, Germany, Mexico, France, England, Chile and Australia, reports Xinhua.

About 200,000 tickets for 54 matches were made available Tuesday morning on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fixtures already sold out are Brazil-Croatia, Mexico-Cameroon, England-Italy, Argentina-Bosnia Herzegovina, Brazil-Mexico, Spain-Chile, Cameroon-Brazil, Croatia-Mexico, Australia-Spain and the final.

The World Cup will be held in 12 Brazilian cities from June 12 to July 13.
