Delhi policeman commits suicide


New Delhi, April 16 (IANS): A Delhi Police head constable shot himself dead with his service revolver here Wednesday morning, police said.

The incident was reported from Kanjhawala area of west Delhi around 7.45 a.m.

Anil Kumar, 45, was deputed at Kanjhawala police station for the past 21 months. He shot himself inside a temple after offering prayers.

Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar told IANS that initial investigation revealed the policeman took the extreme step as he was upset over some family issue.

“Police received a call around 8 a.m. from a Kali Mata temple situated in Kanjhawala. Kumar was found in a pool of blood with a bullet in his head,” said the official.

A resident of Sonipat in Haryana, Anil Kumar was inducted in Delhi Police in 1988 and was staying in Swatantra Nagar area of Narela in west Delhi.

“No suicide note was recovered from his possession,” the official added.
