Rio de Janeiro, April 17 (IANS): Brazil's Botafogo have confirmed Vagner Mancini as their new coach following the sacking of Eduardo Hungaro.
Mancini said he was determined to help steer the Rio de Janeiro side to their first Brazilian title since 1995, reports Xinhua.
"It gives me great satisfaction to be in charge of Botafogo, a club with tradition and a strong history," the 47-year-old said during a press conference Wednesday.
"I am certain we are going to continue that due to the structures in place, and the attitude of the playing group and staff."
Mancini was dismissed by Atletico Paranaense in December despite leading the Curitiba club to the Copa Libertadores with a third-place finish in Brazil's Serie A.
Hungaro was sacked last week following Botafogo's failure to reach the Copa Libertadores' second phase.
