Benfica beat FC Porto to qualify for Portuguese Cup final


Lisbon, April 17 (IANS): Ten-man Benfica beat FC Porto 3-1 at the Luz Stadium here to qualify for the Portuguese Cup final.

Benfica made up for their 0-1 defeat to Porto in the first leg of the semi-final and advanced 3-2 on aggregate Wednesday night, reports Xinhua.

Argentine forward Eduardo Salvio put the Lisbon club ahead in the 17th minute with a header following a cross by Rodrigo.

Benfica's Brazilian defender Guilherme Siqueira was shown a red card in the 28th minute following a foul on Quaresma.

Porto forward Silvestre Varela equalised in the 52nd before Enzo Perez scored a penalty five-minutes later. Andre Gomes secured the win and a final berth in the 80th minute.
