The Hague, April 17 (IANS): FC Utrecht coach Jan Wouters will leave the Eredivisie club at the end of this season.
After a meeting Thursday between Wouters and club officials, both parties decided to end the collaboration, reports Xinhua.
"It's time for a new phase in my career. I want to take this experience with me to make the next step in my career," said Wouters.
The 53-year-old was head coach of Utrecht since October 2011, following the footsteps of Erwin Koeman. He previously worked as an assistant coach at the Dutch club too. He also worked as a head coach of Ajax and as an assistant at PSV, Glasgow Rangers and the Dutch national team.
The former Dutch international enjoyed a successful season last year, leading FC Utrecht to fifth place in the Dutch league and to Europa League qualification. This season, however, the club is in a disappointing 11th position.
