Two arrested for robbing Haryana policemen


New Delhi, April 18 (IANS): Two people have been arrested for two robbing Haryana Police constables after throwing red chilli powder in their eyes, police said Friday.

Ravi Kumar, 24, and Safi Mohammed, 25, were arrested Thursday from their hideouts in west Delhi on a tip-off, said a police officer.

The accused had robbed Dharmendra Singh and Jasbir Singh, both in their 30s and deputed at the Haryana Bhawan in Delhi, on April 4 night when they were walking near the Income Tax Office area, a few metres away from the Delhi Police headquarters.

"The accused along with his another associate approached the victims and suddenly threw red chilli powder in their eyes. The robbers then took out the wallets of both the victims that had over Rs.9,000 and escaped from the spot," he added.
