Mangalore: Fire service day observed at NMPT

Mangalore, Apr 19: The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) observed the fire service day on Wednesday April 16 at the port fire station of NMPT.

The chief guest of the function was the chairman of NMPT P C Parida. He, along with deputy chairman IRS T S N Murthy and harbour master Capt Bhabathosh Chand laid wreaths on the martyrs’ column in the presence of the port fire service officials, HODs and employees of the port, to pay homage to those firemen who laid down their livers whilst discharging their duty.

The fire service week is observed nationwide between April 14 and 20 in memory of the great fire fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

P C Parida addressed the gathering on the occasion and appreciated the service rendered by the port fire service. He also emphasized that the port fire service should remain alert at all times so as to respond to emergencies.
