Kundapur, Jun 20: In a rare judgement, a middle-aged woman involved in a theft case was awarded Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) by a local court.

Panchali (35), a resident of Janata Colony at Kumbhashi near here.  She had been arrested by DCIB police with regard to the daylight theft in Royal Metal Shop near Hotel Sangam here.  The investigation had proved that she was guilty.

The DCIB police had then filed a chargesheet against her in the local court.  After hearing the case, judge K M Nagajyothi awarded Panchali with RI of 6 months.  She has also been fined Rs 5,000 in the same case.
