Take action against Togadia, Shah: Surjewala to Modi

New Delhi, April 22 (IANS): Congress leader Randeep Surjewala Tuesday asked BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to take action against his close aide Amit Shah and VHP leader Praveen Togadia for their alleged hate speeches.

"He (Modi) has to prove his bona fides by expelling Amit Shah and Praveen Togadia from the BJP and its sister organisations," Surjewala told media persons.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi, meanwhile, defended Togadia, saying the Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader has already said that the communal statements attributed to him were false.

"Togadia has said the voice in the CD is not his own. This needs to be investigated, only then we can debate the matter," Lekhi said.

According to media reports, Togadia had said in Bhavnagar in Gujarat April 19 that Muslims should not be allowed to buy property in Hindu areas.
