Mangalore: Gold, cash worth over Rs 3 lac stolen from house

Mangalore, Apr 23: In a robbery that took place, the thieves have decamped with jewellery valued at Rs 3 lacs and Rs 9,500 cash from a house in Kalkatta at Manjanady during the wee hours on Tuesday April 22.

The robbery occurred in a house belonging to K B Abdul Azeez when he along with his family was away on a visit to his relatives place in Venur.

Abdul Azeez is employed in the office of Al Ansar, a weekly newspaper. He came to know of the robbery when he returned home before going for work.

The robbers who had entered the house by breaking the lock of the back door, have taken away a chain weighing 4 sovereigns, a bracelet weighing half a sovereign, 4 bangles weighing 4 sovereigns, 8 ear rings weighing 5 sovereigns, 2 finger rings weighing half a sovereign and Rs 9,500 cash.

The dog squad and fingerprint experts arrived at the place and have conducted an investigation. A case has been registered at the Konaje police station.
