Bangalore, Apr 23: In what can be termed as a moment of pride for Mangaloreans the world over, Clarks Exotica, one of the most prestigious names in the hospitality industry in India, has continued to attract the world's attention for its quality and standards, winning two more top international awards. Six major international awards in less than 12 months has proved that Clarks Exotica is undoubtadly a top ranked five star hotel, owned by a Mangalorean, NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronald Colaco.

Clarks Exotica Resort, Spa & Convention Centre at Bangalore's two latest prestigious international awards from BID, Spain but presented in Frankfurt on April 13, and from OMAC, Paris, France but presented in Berlin, Germany on March 31.
BID, Madrid, Spain conferred Clarks Exotica Resort, Spa & Convention Centre with the 'International Arch of Europe' (IAE) Award in platinum category for the year 2014 during the International BID Quality Convention held at InterContinental Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany on April 13, for commitment to quality and excellence. This prestigious award was presented to Ronald Colaco, accompanied by his son Nigel Colaco, director of projects and M Balaji, CEO, by Jose E Prieto, BID president, Prof Alfonso C Casal (PhO), director of quality, BID, and Hingle, director of quality mix in a splendid evening ceremony at the spectacular Theatre Convention Hall facing the main river, in the historical zone of Frankfurt on Sunday April 13. This is the second award that Clarks Exotica received from BID, Madrid, Spain, the earlier one being 'International Quality Summit Award' in gold category received on May 27, 2013 at Mariott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, Manhattan, New York.
During this International BID Quality Convention, a total of 85 industries from various sectors and drawn from 52 countries across the globe were awarded IAE awards in gold category to a large extent, while only a few qualified for platinum category awards. Clarks Exotica not only received IAE award in platinum category, it was also the only one to receive the award in the entire country (India) under hospitality industry category for two consecutive years from BID Spain. Other Indian industries received a total of three awards during this convention in solar energy, aviation service and biotechnology sectors.
During the day session of the ceremony, after receiving the award certificate, Nigel Colaco, director of projects, addressed the delegates and captains of various industries drawn from more than 60 countries, including that of awardee countries, giving details of his hospitality industry and why it is different from other match box type of star hotels in India or abroad. Nigel also stated during his address that Clarks Exotica Hotel is located very close to Bangalore International Airport, within the self-developed twin townships called Swiss Town and Hollywood Town of international standards, on an area of about 300 acres.
This Resort Hotel has low rise building blocks that are well spread out with beautiful scenery and greenery, with spacious rooms, suites and villas, Nigel stated. He also said that the hotel guests have access to numerous non-income earning sports and recreation facilities that are unparallelled to any of the star category hotels in India. These facilities include eight tennis courts, seven of them of international standards with deco turf, three basket ball courts, fantasy golf in a small triangular park, sand volley ball court, a medium-sized cricket-cum-football ground, three indoor shuttle/ badminton courts, two squash courts, five billiards and pool tables, five table tennis, provision of bridge and cards games, carrom and chess play areas, water slides, two swimming pools, all being non-income earning facilities but made available to the Hotel guests to give the maximum service satisfaction, sacrificing commercial profit, according to Nigel. He further elaborated that Clarks Exotica also has the provision of high standard spa, 10 conference halls, a large banquet hall and a large convention centre.
Nigel dedicated the award to Vivek Kumar, who is a close friend of Ronald Colaco and who is managingClarks Exotica, besides owning, along with his family, a few 5-Star hotels in north India, and to M Balaji, CEO of Clarks Exotica who is directly responsible, along with the entire management staff, for Clarks Exotica receiving so many awards.
BID, Madrid, Spain, (www.bid.org.com) established in 1986, has awarded International BID Quality Awards to several Iindustries in different categories and has covered a total of 179 countries across the globe during the past 27 years. The recipients of earlier awards include Walmart, the number one in Fortuna 500 group, ArcelorMittal, Russian Space Agency, Tata Industries, Reliance Industries, JW Mariott Hotel etc. ImarPress, sponsor of the BID covers the participation of Clarks Exotica along with other awardees in several of its 26 international magazines published in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian languages.
Award in Berlin, Germany on March 31
OMAC, Otherways Management Association Club, Paris, France, represented by its president and CEO, Charbel S Tabet, presented the prestigious 'Diamond Eye Award for Quality Commitment & Excellence' in the hospitality industry category to Clarks Exotica Resort, Spa & Convention Centre. The award was presented to its owner Ronald Colaco on March 31 this year, during a spectacular ceremony held at Intercontinental Hotel in Berlin, Germany.
A total of 83 Industries from different sectors drawn from 51 countries qualified to receive the Diamond Eye Awards as well as the Global Green Awards, during the grand ceremony. Besides Clarks Exotica, the only from hospitality industry in the entire country to receive such a coveted award, a total of five awards came to the share of Indian industries, others being Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from Bangalore, Solar Energy Co from Mumbai, Indian Bio Gas Association from Maharashtra and Panama Group in energy solutions from Pune. They received the awards from OMAC, Paris, France during this award ceremony.
This is the sixth major international award received by Clark Exotica during the past twelve months:
- The first award was International Quality Summit gold category award from BID Spain given in New York on May 27, 2013.
- The second award, 'European Award for Best Practices 2013' presented by European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) Switzerland on December 9, 2013 in Vienna Austria.
- The third award, 6th Golden Star Award in Mumbai on February 14, 2014 qualifying Clarks Exotica as the Resort Hotel of the Year from Stars of Industries, Corporates on Social Responsibility (CSR).
The fourth award being the South India Travel Award for ‘Ultimate Service Award in Hospitality’ in Hyderabad on March 27, 2014.
