Puttur, Jun 21: A tanker cleaner was killed in an accident at Shirady near here on Monday June 19 night.
The deceased has been identified as Sharavan, a resident of Tamil Nadu. He was working as a cleaner in a tanker. On Monday night, the tanker was stopped at Shirady on its way to Bangalore from Mangalore. Sharavan was checking the tyres when another lorry laden with manure and coming from Hassan knocked him.
As a result, Sharavan sustained serious injuries. He was immediately rushed in to a hospital in Mangalore. However, he succumbed to injuries on the way itself.
Meanwhile, the lorry which hit Sharavan did not stop. However, the local chased the lorry and managed to seize it at Addahole.
