Trinamool's Sugata Bose worth over Rs.4.5 crore


Kolkata, April 24 (IANS): Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's grandnephew and Trinamool Congress candidate from West Bengal's Jadavpur Sugata Bose co-owns an apartment and a car in the US while his total assets in both countries are worth over Rs.4.5 crore.

According to his affidavit filed before the Election Commission, the Harvard University history professor, assessable to income tax in the US, had an annual income of $171,547 equivalent to over Rs.1.02 crore in 2013.

His moveable assets are worth over Rs.70.29 lakh including deposits over Rs.61 lakh in banks in India and the US. He jointly owns two automobiles - one each in India and the US. The current market value of his share in the cars is Rs.7.40 lakh.

His immovable assets comprising an inherited residential building in Kolkata and a jointly-owned 6,000 square feet apartment in the US, currently carry a market value in excess of Rs.3.92 crore.

Sugata has inherited a fourth share of the ancestral house of the nationalist leader in Kolkata, which is equivalent to Rs.32.86 lakh in current market value. His 50 percent share in the property in Somerville, Massachusetts now carries a market value of Rs.3.60 crore.

The 57-year-old, who holds a Ph.D degree from University of Cambridge, has not been convicted of any offence.
