Udupi: Kevin Misquith concert to rock Udyavar on Apr 27

Udupi, Apr 25: Five Star Friends, Udyavar, a team of young enthusiasts from Udyavar working for social concerns and causes in and around their area is all set to celebrate its fifth anniversary with the 29th ‘Kevin Misquith Live in Concert’ on Sunday April 27 at 6 pm at N Vasudeva Hegde Rangamantapa, Melpete. 

Five Star Friends Udyavar is a non-profitable organisation working for the needy. On the occasion of its fifth anniversary the association will honour three eminent individuals in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the society. Glen Dias of Mandovi Builders and Promoters, Girish Kumar, member of taluk panchyat and social worker Robert Castelino will be honored. 

Vinay Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi will grace the occasion. 

 
The highlight of the evening will be a music concert by Kevin Misquith and the Milestone Band to promote Konkani music in Udayavar region. The concert will be accompanied by rib-tickling comedy by ‘The Expressions’ under the leadership of Kishoo Barkur and Alwyn Andrade.
 
The Milestone Band under the leadership of Kevin Misquith has taken the Konkani music world by storm and contributed to the growth of Konkani music with consecutive record performances. The band has comprises young and prolific performers from Mangalore and Udupi.   

It is for the very first time in the history of Udyavar that such a musical extravaganza will take place and is a rare opportunity for the Konkani music lovers to witness. With top class talent and performances this show is definitely not to be missed.  

The Five Star Friends with their president Steevan Colaco, secretary Denzil Pinto, treasurer Nelson Pinto and other members hereby extend a warm welcome for the event and request your presence and blessings. 
 

About the concert 

This is the 29th concert of Kevin Misquith; he is the only singer and composer at this young age who has successfully performed in so many shows in a short span of time. The number of Konkani shows performed by him in the last few years stand as a record by itself among the young and old artists in the Konkani music scene.
 
With his innovation, creativity and new age music along with the retro old style Konkani music, high energy and robust stage performances he has induced new life into Konkani music. The repeated bookings for his shows very often stand as testimony and speak volumes about the quality of his music. He is the only one to perform in so many shows during the last few years. His consistent performances by and producing albums speak for his contribution to Konkani music; through his innovation and consistent efforts he has contributed a lot in popularizing Konkani music in the recent years.
 
Innovation and creativity are always associated with Kevin Misquith shows. Along with the musical compositions of Kevin Misquith, the show will also feature young and talented musicians for his band Milestone. Jackson Nornonha on the keys, Clyde Lobo on the lead guitar, Rikith Soans on the bass, Ashwin Sequeira on the acoustic guitar and Ian Saldhana on the drums along with other prolific performers which include the likes of Munita Veigas and Clement Fernandes are among others will be lending their voices to Kevin’s compositions.


The Expressions

The ace team of actors from the ‘Expressions’ under the leadership of Kishoo Barkur and Alwyn Andrade will entertain the crowd with their rib tickling jokes. They have performed for various events in the past in Konkani and Kannada. ‘Konnei Samanath’ is one of their popular plays which have been performed in Udupi, Mangalore and even in Mumbai. Needless to speak about their quality, they are one of the best drama teams from Udupi and will be performing at the Kevin Misquith concert for the first time. 


Silver Steppers

‘Silver Steppers’ under the leadership of Gavin Rodrigues will present scintillating dances. Gavin Rodrigues and Silver Steppers were the champions at the all-India dance competition Ya Ya India Mayaya and have many other titles to their credit. Their choreography and performances will definitely add more glamour to the event. 

Sheldon Crasta, a young and dynamic youth leader will compere the concert.

With all these talents lined up for the event and with some more surprises awaiting, ‘The 29th Kevin Misquith and Milestone, Live in Concert’ is sure to be an evening of mega entertainment.


About Kevin Misquith & Band Milestone

Kevin Misquith  is a lead vocalist, a well known singer and composer and is the main force behind formation of the Milestone music band. He is well known among the Konkani music lovers around the world. Making his appearance in the Konkani music scene at a very young age, unlike many others he has performed consistently since his entry into the music field contributing to Konkani music immensely.

Kevin Misquith released his first Konkani debut album, ‘Rupnem’ in 2004. Following the huge response for his debut album, he released yet another Konkani album ‘Tuji Yaad’ in 2007. His Konkani rock album, ‘He Jeen’ in 2008, too had a very good response from the Konkani and Non-Konkani music lovers. His latest Konkani album 'Thembe Thembe' is one of the hit Konkani hit albums of all times and has recorded the best sales. He has not only has recorded these albums but also has staged several shows; he is the only Konkani composer and singer to have presented 25 music concerts by age of 25. Having performed in 28 music concerts he is the only Konkani composer to do so after great legends like Wilfy Rembimbus, Melwin Peris and so on. Apart from these concerts, he has also performed for several other events not only in Mangalore but also across Bangalore, Goa, Mumbai and the Middle East countries.

Milestone is one of the most youthful and talented music bands of Mangalore. It has carved out a place for itself in the hearts of Konkani music buffs despite the fact that the band came into existence in 2009. 

Milestone has always enthralled the audience with their performances ranging from soft ballads, disco, rock, pop, folk, fusion to foot tapping baila numbers; Milestone plays all kinds of genres with a blend of coastal essence with it. The Konkani music on the west coast of India particularly from Mangalore and Goa is the soul of the band. Milestone would not intend to have any barrier of language to it, but Konkani and music is our first love and always is our priority.
