Mangalore, Jun 22: The tally of accidents on National Highway between Kulur and Mulki is increasing by every passing day. The pathetic state of the road is perhaps the major reason for this. Traffic jam is a common phenomenon on this road during peak hours. This often results in fatal accidents.
Tuesday June 20 witnessed one more fatal accident at Baikampady near here. A pedestrian was knocked down by a goods tempo. The victim succumbed to the injuries in the nearby hospital later.
The deceased has been identified as N B Yadav (70). On Tuesday he was going home after his daily work. The eye witnesses said that he was under the influence of alcohol and was struggling to cross the road when a goods tempo hit him.
As a result he sustained serious injuries and was immediately admitted to a nearby private hospital. However, he breathed his last later after failing to respond to the medication.
The Panambur police have registered a case in this regard as per the complaint filed by Abdul Hameed of Krishnapur.
