Bhatkal: Two killed in separate accidents

Bhatkal, Apr 28: One person was killed and another seriously injured when a city ride van collided with a bike around 2:30 pm at Teerna Makki Murudeshwar, on Sunday April 27.

Pandu Jattapa Naik (26) was fatally injured in the accident and despite initial treatment in Murudeshwar RNS Hospital, breathed his last on the way to Manipal. Vasu Jattapa Naik (28) was also seriously injured and has been shifted to Manipal after initial treatment at RNS Hospital, Murdeshwar.


Both hail from Heble Bhatkal and were headed to Murdeshwar from Bhatkal while the van was headed to Bhatkal from Honnavar. Pandu was wearing a helmet which was smashed into pieces in the mishap.

The body of the deceased was brought to Bhatkal for post mortem. A case has been registered at Murdeshwar rural police station.

Honnavar: Bike rider dies in head-on collision with car

A man was killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a bike and an Indica car. The victim has been identified as Anthony Rodrigues (42), resident of Kasargod, Honnavar taluk.

The incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Saturday April 26. Rodrigues was returning from Honnavar to his house in Kasargod while the car was traveling in the opposite direction . After post-mortem at Honnavar Government Hospital, the body was handed over to his family. A case has been registered at Honnavar police station.
