Two killed in shootout on Pakistan-Iran border

Islamabad, April 28 (IANS): At least two Pakistani security personnel were killed and one injured Monday during an exchange of fire along the Pakistan-Iran border, a media report said.

"Exchange of fire took place when security forces tried to stop a convoy of drug smugglers in Balochistan's Mashkel area, which is close to the Iranian border as they were trying to sneak into Iran," Dawn online reported a security official as saying.

The official also said that the smugglers, who were armed with heavy weapons, sped away in their vehicles after the incident.
