Microsoft announces 3 winners for ImagineCup 2014 in India


Greater Noida, April 29 (IANS): Microsoft Tuesday announced three winners for its 12th ImagineCup 2014 in India. One of these teams will represent the country in the worldwide finals in July in Seattle competing for a $50,000 prize, Joseph Landes, general manager, developer and platform evangelism, said here.

“The Imagine Cup facilitates a culture of innovation where teams from across India are given an opportunity to take the first steps towards becoming successful technology entrepreneurs,” he said.

Microsoft Imagine Cup, which is often referred to as the Olympics of Technology, is a platform for young entrepreneurs, developers and innovators to develop and showcase their technology-based new business ideas, create products, put together business plans and even take their products to the markets.

This year 60,000 student innovators participated in the competition from 25 Indian states. The teams which won this year are - Dexters in innovation category, in gaming category team Seven Summits while in the world citizenship category Untraceable0208 bagged the prize.

One of these teams will go to Seattle to compete with representatives from more than 150 countries in July, Landes said.
